Exports and imports of beef and live animals (Taiwan)

  • In 2019, EU exports of beef and live animals remained at a similar level to the previous year, at 700,000 tons.
  • In this sector, the main buyers of beef were countries such as Israel (7.1% of EU exports), Hong Kong (6.7%) and Ghana (5.6%). Inter-EU exchanges saw a significant decline in live animal exports to Turkey, which may affect producers’ intentions and reduce production in the beef sector, primarily in Southeastern European countries and Spain. The EU’s income from beef and live animal exports amounted in 2019. 140 million euros. 
  • Imports of beef and live animals to EU markets in 2019 decreased̨ by 3 p.p. compared to the previous year and amounted to 279,000 tons.
  • The main suppliers of beef to the EU market arę South American countries, namely Brazil (35.7% of imports), Argentina (25.3%) and Uruguay (14.5%). 
  • In 2019, Poland’s commodity production structure (at current prices) accounted for the largest share of cow’s milk (18.2%), poultry livestock (15.2%), pork livestock (14.5%), vegetables (10.5%), total grains (10.0%), beef livestock (7.3%), chicken eggs (6.1%) and fruits (5.3%).
