- In 2020, the emirate of Abu Dhabi implemented a system of good agricultural practices based on GLOBAL G.A.P. certification on the emirate’s farms.
- In 2020, the Abu Dhabi emirate’s authorities introduced new detailed regulations governinǵ agricultural activities and food production̨ in the emirate, which aim to ensure the optimal use of natural resources, increase local production and develop the agri-food sector. According to the initiative, such measures are intended to increasé the contribution of the agricultural sector to the emirate’s GDP.
- In July 2020. The Emirates Standards and Metrology Authority (ESMA) announced that the Emirates is introducing̨ a National Sustainable Agriculture and Labelling System. Labelling regulations according to the new system will̨ apply to all farms and economic activities related to crop production̨, animal husbandry and water resources.
